Have you ever thought about enclosing your ‘sweetest’ gifts in a glass jar, decorated with Christmas trinkets? Jar recipes make an ideal DIY present, fun and incredibly easy to put together, even if there aren’t many ingredients in the house.
All you need to do is choose a recipe and fill the jar with the (dry) ingredients that are required to prepare it, while having the presence of mind to arrange them in layers. Jar recipes leave you with an embarrassment of choice: cakes, biscuits, soups, mulled wine…for now, we’ll give you two to try out, one easy and one even easier!
Nutty chocolate biscuits
Ingredients (for the jar) and materials:
200g plain flour
120g sieved sugar
2 teaspoons of raising agent
2 teaspoons of bitter cocoa
40g chocolate drops
A hermetically-sealed jar or bottle
Ribbons + little cards + other decorations (we have Christmas tree decorations in mind)
The recipient of the gift will only have to add two eggs and 100g butter.
And another idea, incredibly quick to prepare but extremely sweet: we thought of buying some test tubes from a party shop and filling them with the necessary quantities of ingredients for HOT CHOCOLATE.
To make it even more tasty and colourful we added sugar granules and mini meringues. On the cards you can write instructions and the amount of milk that needs to be added.
